Situation:

Development Manager, Treasury System Vendor was given the requirement to develop an e-commerce capability to enable the Bank to increase its market share.

Critical Business Issues:

• Restricted functionality set of existing system meant there was insufficient capacity to enable an increase in the market share.
• In-house skills were not available to enhance the system using the required technology.

Reasons:

• The legacy system had limited capability to expand functionality, especially into the e-commerce arena.
• OO and component based technologies could not be used to leverage existing functionality and then to extend it.

Capabilities Needed:

Java and OO skills, 3-tier architecting capability and technical knowledge within the team.

Code Red Provided:

Application development and implementation resources, delivery management and roll-out, as well as knowledge transfer to the internal technical team.

Results:

The project phases were delivered on time, to budget and as specified. E-commerce technology was exploited to expand the system functionality. The internal staff is now skilled for future requirements without the need for off-site training courses.
